Setting Up Roksbox

The first time you use Roksbox, you will be put into the Admin account. The default Admin account doesn't require a password. You can continue to use the Admin account, or create other accounts as needed.

You can create up to five user accounts in addition to the Admin account which will allow you to define users and profiles, each having its own setup information. For each account, you can define a specific web server and media information, allowing each account to have its own media environment. You can also specify xml file names, or tell it to not use an xml file. This way you can have one account that uses an xml file, and another that uses the directory structure option. There are many combinations of environments that you can set up. You can also assign a password to each account to restrict access to that account. If you want to keep Roksbox simple, don't create any accounts, and don't assign a password to the Admin account. This way you won't have to choose an account or enter a password when Roksbox starts up.

By default, the Admin account cannot be changed or deleted. The Admin account has the ability to create, modify, and delete other accounts, and change passwords. If you want to create a secure environment, you should assign a password to the Admin account so that other users cannot change accounts unless they have Administrator permissions.

Each account you create is assigned one of three permission parameters. The permission options are:

Restricted User - The user cannot make any changes to his account or any other account.
Normal User - The user can make changes to his account, but no one else's.
Administrator - The user can make changes to his account, and anyone else's (same as Admin account).
